Marc Jacobs' Fashion Overload

Wether you like it or not, Marc Jacobs creates an spectacule that becomes the talk of the town for weeks. This summer, Marc left behind his romantic and soft fall collection, to introduce an incredibly dramatic, couture-like stravaganzza. Backstage at the show the designer pointed out The New York Dolls and Yves Saint Laurent as main inspirations for the collection.
A mix of the seventies, the forties and Jodie Foster in Taxi Driver made of this collection one of the best of the week. Some loved it, like me, and some hated it, but this was fashion.
It was also all about colours. Completely opposite from the pale pallette of his last show, here were all kinds of combinations, from red to black, to different colour stripes.
The models were a mix of dolls with baby prostitutes, and the music set up the tone of a dramatic performance. It was a lot to take in, in just 10 minutes, but after refreshing my mind, I realized I was in front of a work of art, result of a true fashion genious. Who can deny that? Marc is the man!
