Before submerging myself in a flood of fall collections related posts, I wanted to post something about this spring trend. To contrast the last trend I talked about, which was pretty much all white and simple designs, colour also invaded the runways last september. Marc did it, Miuccia did it, even Raf Simons added a splash of bright colours on the Jil Sander catwalk (and we know Jil Sander is minimalist). And the list of designers using turquoise, yellow and pink on their collections goes on and on.
Summer has always being about colour, but we've never seen anything like this before. It was a hit on the catwalks, but can it work on the streets? Personally I think it'll be a hard trend to follow, as, in this case, the line between totally stylish and completely ridiculous is a pretty thin one.

Christian Dior | Nina Ricci
Gucci
Jil Sander
Prabal Gurung | Issa
Loewe | Lanvin
Prada | Marc by Marc Jacobs
A good option is to add some splashes of colour and not to go all at once. Perhaps a bright accesory, like a bag or belt, or bright coloured shoes can make of a simple outfit a very interesting one, without exagerating.

without a doubt - Gucci and Prada were the pioneers of colour for the S/S collections. Gucci's rich regal colours gave new meaning to the word luxury and Prada's prints were like none I had ever seen. Here's hoping fall's trends don't completely shy away from colour!
