It looks like I ended up, once again, dedicating a single post to each collection I loved. I did it with Chloé and now the chosen one is Balenciaga's Spring 2012 collection. I have to admit that I'm not a huge fan of the brand, I usually love a few looks and sporadically like the complete collection, but this season Nicolas Ghesquière created some of my favourite designs for spring/summer.
By now there is no need to say that geometry is a huge trend for spring/summer 2012 (as seen in Chloé and BCBG to name a few), and Balenciaga was no stranger to it. Geometric designs, prints, high-waisted pants and short shorts were the highlights of this couture/ready-to-wear collection, that without a doubt made tribute to those old Balenciaga collections - the ones that Cristobal himself used to made.
And the visors deserve a paragraph for themselves. Talk about innovating! I know it will take a lot of courage to step out in one of those (although I'm sure Anna dello Russo will surprise us all), but I have to admit that they looked amazing on the runway and added a futuristic vibe to the collection.
